Assam TET 2026 Notification

The Assam TET 2026 notification will be released on the official website. Recently Assam Government has introduced one more TET examination for the HS Level, which includes up to Class XII in the Higher Secondary Schools. Assam Higher Secondary TET is usually conducted for the recruitment of Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) against the vacant posts in provincialized Higher Secondary Schools of Assam.

Assam TET Eligibility Criteria 2026

The eligibility criteria differ for Primary (Class I–V) and Upper Primary (Class VI–VIII) levels, HS GT, PGT

For Primary Level (Class 1–5)

Candidates must fulfill one of the following:

  1. Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
  2. Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with 2-year D.El.Ed in accordance with the NCTE Regulations 2002.
  3. Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  4. Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

For Upper Primary Level (Class 6–8)

Candidates must fulfill one of the following:

  1. Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
  2. Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
  3. Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed in accordance with the NCTE Regulations.
  4. HS (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.

Science Teacher (Upper Primary) – Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following academic and professional qualifications:

  1. Higher Secondary / Senior Secondary (or equivalent) from a recognized board.
  2. Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree from a UGC-recognized university.
  3. 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) OR Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) OR Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) from a recognized institution.
  4. Valid Assam Teacher Eligibility Test (Assam TET) or Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) qualification for the Upper Primary School level.

Hindi Teacher (Upper Primary) – Eligibility Criteria

Candidates are required to possess the following qualifications:

  1. Higher Secondary / Senior Secondary (or equivalent) from a recognized board.
  2. Bachelor’s degree with Hindi as one of the main subjects from a UGC-recognized university.
  3. 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) OR Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) OR Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) from a recognized institution.
  4. Valid Assam TET or Central TET qualification for the Upper Primary School level.

HS TET PGT- Eligibility Criteria

  1. Post-Graduate degree with a minimum of 50% marks (or equivalent grade)
  2. 2 years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)
  3. Valid Assam TET or Central TET Qualification

Additional Eligibility Conditions for Assam TET Recruitment

TET Certification:
Applicants must have successfully cleared the ATET or CTET for Lower Primary (LP) or Upper Primary (UP) levels to be eligible for application.

Medium of Instruction Requirement:
For candidates applying under the Upper Primary category, either Language I or Language II in their ATET/CTET qualification must correspond to the medium of instruction of the school where they intend to serve.

Citizenship:
Only Indian nationals who are permanent residents of Assam are eligible to apply.

Age Criteria:
As of 1st January 2025, applicants must be 18 to 40 years old. Age relaxations are applicable as follows:

  • Ex-Servicemen: 2 years
  • OBC/MOBC: 3 years
  • SC/ST (P)/ST (H): 5 years
  • Persons with Disability (PwD): 10 years

Small Family Norms Compliance:
In line with the Government’s Small Family Norms policy, individuals with more than two living children on or after 1st January 2021, from either a single or multiple partners, will not be considered eligible for appointment.
