About Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs)
Established under the National Policy of Education (1986), Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are co-educational, fully residential schools funded and managed by the Government of India through the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS). These schools aim to provide quality education to talented children, especially from rural and economically weaker sections.
Currently, JNVs are functional in 27 States and 8 Union Territories, with 28 JNVs in Assam.

Eligibility Criteria

District Requirement: The student must apply from the district where the JNV is located.

Age Limit: Applicants must be born between 1st May 2014 and 31st July 2016 (both dates inclusive) across all categories.

Education Qualification:

The candidate must be studying in Class V during the academic session 2025-26.

Must be enrolled in a Government or Government-recognized school in the same district where admission is sought.

Previous Admission Restriction:

Students not promoted to Class V before 31st July 2024 are not eligible.

No candidate is allowed to appear in JNVST more than once.

About JNV Selection Test (JNVST)
JNVST is a national-level entrance exam conducted by NVS to select meritorious students for admission into Class VI. Since seats are limited, selection is purely merit-based, determined through performance in this test.
Exam Pattern: JNVST 2026
The exam will last 2 hours (11:30 AM to 1:30 PM) and consist of 80 objective-type questions for a total of 100 marks across three sections:

Tick the checkbox confirming you’ve read the prospectus, then click Proceed.

Fill out the application form with correct personal and academic details.
