Assam is home to several reputed engineering colleges and technical institutes that provide quality education in different fields of engineering, technology, and management. These colleges are affiliated with Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU) and play a vital role in producing skilled engineers for the region and beyond.
The premier institution is Assam Engineering College (AEC), Guwahati, which is the oldest government engineering college in the state. Apart from AEC, Assam has multiple government and private engineering institutions spread across different districts such as Jorhat, Kokrajhar, Karimganj, Dhemaji, and Dibrugarh.
ASTU, established under the “Assam Science and Technology University Act, 2009,” functions as the central body for affiliating engineering, management, and technology colleges in Assam. It ensures standard curriculum, examination, and quality education across the state.
These engineering colleges not only provide B.Tech programs but also offer courses in science, technology, agriculture, horticulture, management, and applied sciences.
