The Directorate of Secondary Education (DSE), Assam has released an official notification for the recruitment of 59 Special Educator posts in Provincialised Secondary Schools across the state. This recruitment aims to strengthen and enhance the quality of secondary education in Assam, in compliance with the Right to Education Act, 2009 and as per the Supreme Court of India judgments dated 28.10.2021 and 21.07.2022 in Writ Petition (C) No. 132/2016 (Rajneesh Kumar Pandey & Ors vs Union of India & Ors).
Selected candidates will be appointed in the Pay Band-2 (Rs. 14,000 – Rs. 70,000) + Grade Pay Rs. 8,700/- per month plus other allowances as per government rules.

Eligibility Criteria for Special Educators
Educational & Professional Qualification:
- Graduate or Post Graduate degree from a recognized University with minimum 50% marks in either Graduation or Post-Graduation AND a B.Ed. (Special Education) degree recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).
- Degrees obtained through off-campus or unrecognized distance education centres will not be valid.
- Degrees/diplomas from KKHSOU, IGNOU, IDOL (Gauhati University), and Distance Education (Dibrugarh University) are valid.
Age Limit (as on 01.01.2025):
- General/UR: 18–40 years
- Ex-Servicemen: 42 years
- OBC/MOBC: 43 years
- SC/ST(P)/ST(H): 45 years
- PwD: 50 years
Other Conditions:
- Must follow Small Family Norms (not more than two living children after 01.01.2021).
- Reservation for PwD will be as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. Final selection subject to medical fitness.
- Candidates with “Not Clear (NC)” status in qualifications will not be eligible.
- Must possess all required qualifications by the last date of application submission.
Selection Process
The recruitment process will include a Teacher Eligibility Test cum Recruitment Test and additional weightage for NCC, Sports, Fine Arts & Cultural activities.
1. TET cum Recruitment Test (140 Marks):
- Pedagogy – 50 Marks
- About Assam & Its People – 35 Marks
- General Mathematics (Class 10 level) – 15 Marks
- General English – 30 Marks
- General Studies & Current Affairs – 10 Marks
2. NCC/Sports/Fine Arts & Culture (5 Marks):
- NCC “C” Certificate – 5 Marks
- NCC “B” Certificate – 3 Marks
- OR 5 Marks for participation in recognized National Level Sports (representing Assam)
- OR 5 Marks for achievements in Fine Arts & Cultural Activities representing the State at National Level
3. Weightage for Earlier High School TET Pass Candidates:
- Candidates who passed High School TET earlier but were not appointed will get 5% weightage of TET marks (max. 5 marks).
Recruitment Rules & Conditions
- A single merit list will be prepared. In case of tie, seniority of age will be considered.
- No district preference will be given – posting will be determined via randomization.
- All documents uploaded online will be verified using DigiLocker, QR/Barcode scanning, and back-office verification. Physical document verification may also be conducted.
- Any fraudulent information, misrepresentation, or discrepancy will lead to cancellation of candidature, debarment from future recruitments, and legal action.
- Candidates must produce original documents during verification.
- Candidates must be medically fit and free from physical or mental infirmity that may affect job performance.
