The Directorate of Elementary Education (DEE), Assam, has officially released a recruitment notification for 120 Special Educator posts in Lower Primary (LP) Schools across the state. This recruitment drive aims to strengthen and improve the quality of elementary education in Assam in alignment with the Right to Education Act, 2009 and as per the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s judgments dated 28.10.2021 and 21.07.2022 in Writ Petition (C) No. 132/2016.
Applications are invited online from eligible Indian citizens (as defined in Article 5–8 of the Constitution of India) who are permanent residents of Assam and have qualified in Assam Teacher Eligibility Test (ATET) or Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET).
Selected candidates will be appointed as Special Educators in Lower Primary Schools under DEE, Assam, vide Govt. letter E-file No. 63618493 dated 21.08.2025, with a pay scale of Rs. 14,000 – Rs. 70,000 (PB-2) + Grade Pay Rs. 7,400/- along with other admissible allowances under “The Assam Services (Revision of Pay) Amendment Rules, 2019.”

Eligibility Criteria for Special Educators
- Educational Qualification:
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks AND a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).
- OR Graduation with 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (Special Education) with ATET/CTET qualification for LP Schools. (Note: No extra marks for Graduation.)
- TET Qualification:
- Must have passed ATET/CTET for Lower Primary Schools.
- Either Language-I or Language-II in ATET/CTET must match the medium of instruction of the applied school.
- Age Limit (as on 01.08.2025):
- General/UR: 18–40 years
- Ex-Servicemen: 42 years
- OBC/MOBC: 43 years
- SC/ST(P)/ST(H): 45 years
- PwD: 50 years
- Other Conditions:
- Must comply with Small Family Norms – not more than two living children after 01.01.2021.
- Candidates with “Not Clear (NC)” status in qualifications will not be considered.
- Only first betterment/improvement attempt in Higher Secondary or equivalent will be accepted.
DEE Assam Recruitment Rules & Conditions
- A separate merit list will be prepared for each district and category.
- Applicants must be prepared to serve in their respective place of posting as per district allocation.
- Recruitment may be cancelled or postponed at any stage without notice.
- Only one application per ATET/CTET Roll Number is allowed. Multiple applications will lead to rejection.
- Strict verification of documents will be carried out via DigiLocker, QR/Barcode scanning, and official board verification.
- Any fraudulent information, misrepresentation, or discrepancy will result in cancellation of candidature, permanent debarment from future govt. recruitment, and possible legal action.
